New executive sous chef appointed at JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn

Posted

The JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort and Spa announced the appointment of Chef Matthew Mina to executive sous chef.

Mina joins the Marriott family with an extensive culinary background. After serving in the Marine Corps, he attended culinary school in San Francisco and baking and pastry school in Napa Valley, Calif.

Upon graduation, he joined Auberge du Soleil as the pastry cook and further educated himself on the relationship between food and wine.

After leaving Napa Valley, Mina worked in various kitchens in the San Francisco Bay area, Seattle and throughout Oregon, before moving to Arizona in December of 2018 to join Renaissance Downtown Phoenix as the executive sous chef.

According to the release, outside of the kitchen, Mina enjoys reading and exploring all Arizona has to offer, including the expansive desert trails and beautiful views of Camelback Mountain, right in Camelback Inn's backyard.
