Virginia Korte is exactly the Mayor that Scottsdale needs and deserves! Scottsdale is better for Virginia’s leadership and service AND the best has yet come!
Virginia is principled, collaborative, caring, intelligent, and visionary. Her contributions are varied and deep.
Virginia is an environmentalist. She is recognized as a Preserve Pioneer for her role in creating the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. She founded the Center for Native and Urban Wildlife at Scottsdale Community College.
Virginia is a savvy business person and fiscal conservative. She managed her family’s Chevy dealership. She led the Chamber of Commerce as a volunteer leader and as the Executive Director.
Virginia is a humanist. She was the Executive Director of STARS, a local non-profit committed to supporting adults with developmental disabilities. She expanded the programs that provided work opportunities for clients and improved the organization’s financial strength.
Virginia is an education advocate. She led campaigns for Scottsdale Unified School District bond and override elections. She was a founding member of the Board of BUSS (Business United for Scottsdale Schools) seeking stronger collaboration between the business community and schools.
Virginia is a teacher. She taught biology and environmental biology at both Mesa and Scottsdale Community Colleges.
