After multiple award nominations and sold out shows, New York City-based Tier5 brings the wackadoodle Little Women to Scottsdale's Taliesin West stage with the help of the Southwest Shakespeare Company for its regional theatre debut of Meg Jo Beth Amy & Louisa from Jan. 24 to Feb 2.
Part adaptation, part biography, the show plays 7:30 p.m., Jan. 24, 25, 31 and Feb 1; and 6 p.m., Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 in the Pavilion Theater at Taliesin West, 12621 N. Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., Scottsdale.
The Tier5 team brought audiences the award-winning, “Ladies In Waiting: The Judgement Of Henry VIII,” according to a press release, noting the latest project, based on Louisa May Alcott’s American classic, “Meg Jo Beth Amy & Louisa.”
Assigned with the “super boring task of writing a novel for young girls,” the release described Louisa May Alcott who finds herself in a state of writer’s block until she turns to figures and stories from her own life.
The lines between fact and fiction begin to blur, as her novel, Little Women, plays out on the stage. Louisa’s self-examination of her own sexuality, as well as unfinished family drama, weaves itself through the story as quirky, queer, and sentimental ways, the release noted.
