Man arrested in Scottsdale home on second degree murder charge

Posted

Forty eight-year-old Sean Quinn has been arrested, accused of fatally shooting a man on May 21 around 4:35 p.m. at his residence near the 1800 block of N. Miller Road.

The victim was transported to the hospital but did not survive his injuries, according to police report.

Quinn was ultimately placed under arrest with the assistance of a police canine unit.

Police and fire crews responded to a home near the the block of 1800 N. Miller Road around 4:35 pm to reports of a shooting and located 46-year-old Michael Bradford in the carport area with a gunshot wound to the upper torso area. Officers extracted the victim down the street, where Scottsdale Fire met them and provided emergency medical aid before Bradford was transported to the hospital.

Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the report.

Negotiators gave Quinn commands over the phone and loudspeakers to exit the residence. However, Quinn refused to come outside, standing inside the doorway. After he failed to obey police commands to exit the residence, a police canine was deployed, and Quinn was bitten, the report said.

After a brief struggle, Quinn was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for his injury from the dog bite, according to the report.

After the investigation, it was revealed that Quinn and Bradford had been friends for years. There are no known issues with the suspect and victim. After Quinn was released from the hospital, he was ultimately booked in the Maricopa County Jail for one count of second degree murder.
