Life Care Center of Scottsdale helps community members regain independence

Life Care Center of Scottsdale, 9494 E. Becker Lane, is among 10 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Arizona managed by Life Care Centers of America helping people recover independence.

When Phoenix resident Karol Kolste fell and fractured her right hip, she needed rehabilitation to get out of bed and walk again so she went to Life Care Center of Scottsdale for rehabilitation on Feb. 4 for physical and occupational therapies, according to a press release.

Upon arrival, the release said she needed moderate assistance for bed mobility and transfers including getting from a bed to a wheelchair, plus help with bathing, dressing and daily grooming.

She could only walk about 30 feet at a time, but the physical therapy team worked on her strength and balance exercises, endurance and resistance training, bed mobility, transfers and gait training, the release detailed.

“I really liked being here – everyone was so nice,” said Ms. Kolste in a prepared statement.

“My therapy was great, and they helped me get back to normal so quickly.”

Ms. Kolste’s occupational therapy team even assisted her with cooking and home safety, the release said, noting that therapists taught her how to use adaptive equipment to dress herself again with the range-of-motion restrictions in place after her surgery.

She returned home on Feb. 15 and is independent again, the release added.

Life Care is a nationwide health care company, founded in 1976, with headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee.
