Jeni’s ice cream sets up shop in Old Town Scottsdale

Posted

A new ice cream shop is opening in Old Town Scottsdale, with an official grand opening event on Wednesday, March 1, featuring free scoops from 7 to 11 p.m.

Founder Jeni Britton literally wrote the book on ice cream, and she has a James Beard Award to prove it, according to the company’s website. Jeni’s started in Columbus, Ohio in 2002, and now has stores across the country.

Jeni’s Scottsdale is the company’s first scoop shop in the greater Phoenix area.

To celebrate the new Arizona location, Jeni’s Scottsdale, 7051 E. Fifth Ave., will serve free ice cream during its grand opening event 7-11 p.m. Wednesday, March 1. In addition, the first 50 people in line will get extra Jeni’s goodies, according to a press release.

Classic Jeni’s flavors include Brambleberry Crisp and Salty Caramel. Plus, the shop will have a limited-edition collaboration flavor, Biscuits with the Boss, ready to scoop on March 2. Inspired by Emmy award-winning series “Ted Lasso,” the flavor features shortbread cookie crumbles folded into a pleasantly addicting salted butter sweet cream ice cream, making for a creamy and crumbly indulgence that is salty, mouthwatering and conversation-worthy.

Jeni’s ice creams aren’t completely new to the Scottsdale area. You can find some of our best-selling flavors — like Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Gooey Butter Cake — by the pint in and around Scottsdale at AJ’s Fine Foods, Whole Foods, and Target.
