Issues & Experts examines short-term rentals Nov. 6

Posted

Join the Scottsdale Independent and five of the area’s experts to  learn about the impact and future of vacation rentals in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Independent Newsmedia’s free Issues & Experts event returns to Scottsdale Community College to discuss the ins and outs of short-term rentals.

Issues & Experts is presented in collaboration with the Scottsdale Coalition of Today and Tomorrow --- also known as SCOTT.

The event is 7:30-9:30 a.m. in the Turquoise Room at Scottsdale Community College, 9000 E. Chaparral Road.

The Issues & Experts discussion will offer insights into municipal regulations and perspectives, law enforcement details and the impacts the fledging short-term rental marketplace is having on local neighborhoods.

Scottsdale Independent Managing Editor Terrance Thornton will moderate the conversation, with a panel comprised of:

  • Town of Paradise Valley Mayor Jerry Bien-Willner;
  • Paradise Valley Police Chief Peter Wingert;
  • Scottsdale Councilwoman Kathy Littlefield;
  • Scottsdale Area Association of Realtors President and CEO Rebecca Grossman; and
  • Hague Partners Found/CEO Greg Hague.

Due to a sponsorship with Mr. Hague, breakfast for the event is free.

Each of the five community leaders will represent their respective organization's pursuit to provide both an equitable approach to the current marketplace, meanwhile maintaining the tranquility of established neighborhoods.

Discussion will include how state law has impacted local neighborhoods and how solutions for both short-term renters, owners and neighbors are being found.

Join Independent Newsmedia and the SCOTT organization as the partnership offers a discussion on “The future and impact of vacation rentals in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley” 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Scottsdale Community College.

Seating is limited for this engagement as RSVP is required and can be done here.
