Free presentation by dementia expert coming Feb. 25

Hospice of the Valley Dementia Program Director Maribeth Gallagher will present “Understanding Dementia: A Challenging Journey” 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Road in Scottsdale.
Gallagher will explain how the disease progresses from early to advanced stages and teach strategies to make and maintain meaningful connections with the person with dementia. Gallagher is a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a doctoral degree in nursing.
Her commitment to improving dementia care was initially inspired by her own experience as a family caregiver.
