The Valley of the Sun JCC in Scottsdale will host a special “Family Fun Weekend” on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2. The public is invited to attend, both members and non-members.
April 1 is “A Night to Remember Dance.” Families with children, ages 4 and up, are invited to dance the night away together at “The J” from 6–8 p.m. There will be live music, games, appetizers, refreshments and a photo booth. Advance tickets are $25 per person, $35 at the door.
April 2 is Hero for a Day 5K and Superhero Fun Run, as well as a Shemesh Camp get-together.
Children ages 3 and up are invited to put on their superhero capes and lace up their running shoes to join the battle against pediatric brain cancer. The J has partnered with the nonprofit Hudson Heroes for a day in the name of supporting brain cancer research. Events will include a 5K and Superhero Dash. All proceeds will benefit Hudson Heroes.
Registration starts at 6:45 a.m. The Superhero Dash starts at 7:30 a.m. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. The cost is $30 per adult, $10 per child. Advanced registration is required.
The J’s summer day camp program, Shemesh Camp, will also host an event for families 3–5 p.m. on April 2 at the Scottsdale KTR Indoor Action Sports Playground. Children will get to jump, skate, dodge and tumble through the end of the weekend with Shemesh Camp. The cost is $24 per child for two hours; $47 for a family pass (two adults, five children).
Advance registration is not required, just show up and mention Shemesh Camp at check-in. KTR is located at 9009 E. Talking Stick Way in Scottsdale.
Everyone is welcome at The J — all backgrounds, faiths and abilities. The J is located at 12701 N. Scottsdale Road. For more information and to register, call 480-483-7121 or visit www.vosjcc.org/famweekend.
