Escorted hike set for McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A ranger will escort visitors on a morning hike in the Sonoran Desert on Thursday, Aug. 18, to see how plants have adapted to the harsh environment.
The hike will take place 7-9 a.m. in McDowell Mountain Regional Park, 16300 McDowell Mountain Park Drive.
According to event organizers, the hike will be about 3 miles and is considered easy to moderate.
“The hike will include saguaro cactus, barrel cactus, prickly pear cactus and others. In addition to plants, we may see bugs, reptiles, birds and mammals,” according to a release.
Hikers should bring plenty of water but no pets and meet at the north trailhead at 7 a.m.
Restrooms are available a short distance from the trailhead.
