Duet offers free Family Caregiver Support Group in Scottsdale

Duet is offering in-person and virtual family caregiver support groups for family caregivers who may be overwhelmed while tending to the needs of others.

In-person support groups will resume from 10 to 11:30 a.m., beginning Feb. 3, at Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda, in Scottsdale on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

A virtual group is also open to family caregivers from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month via Zoom, according to a press release.

“Attending a support group can make a big difference,” said Deanne Poulos, Caregiver Services, Duet, in the release. “You will discover you are not alone as you share camaraderie with others who ‘get it.’ You can express your frustrations in a safe space, without judgment. You will be guided to resources and learn coping strategies to bolster your resilience.”

All Duet support groups are free of charge, adding social distancing and masks are required for in-person events, noted the release.

For those who would like continuing support on their caregiving journey, Duet offers webinars, information and referral assistance, and a Finding Meaning and Hope video discussion series for family members caring for someone with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

To participate in either in-person or virtual support groups, contact Deanne Poulos at 602-274-5022, ext. 115, or poulos@duetaz.org. Once confirmed in a virtual group, Duet will send a Zoom link to participate, the release said.
