Desert Hills Presbyterian Church presents We3

Posted

Desert Hills Presbyterian Church is pleased to present the next concert in its Arts at the Rocks performing arts series, as it welcomes We3 to the stage on Sunday, July 16 at 4 p.m. at 34605 N. Tom Darlington Road, in Scottsdale.

Consisting of vocalist Renee Patrick, violinist Suzanne Lansford and pianist Nicole Pesce, We3 will perform iconic works from the “Great American Songbook” (often referred to as “American Standards”). After the concert, the church will host an ice cream social in its Fellowship Center.

There is no admission fee for the concert.

Considered the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century, the “Great American Songbook” includes many of the enduring tunes that were created for Broadway theatre, musical theatre and musical films between the 1920s and 1950s.

Featuring composers such as George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and many more – as well as works ranging from “Summertime” to “Cheek to Cheek” to “The Way You Look Tonight”. The concert will showcase the music and lyrics that make these songs unforgettable, combined with We3’s personal style and unique touch on every note.

Formed in 2016, We3 has performed numerous sold-out shows at venues across the Phoenix area, including the Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix Theatre and the Nash. In 2019, the group entertained in jazz clubs all over Paris. We3 has released two CDs: “We’ll Meet Again” and “A We3 Christmas.”

We3 routinely draws accolades for the undeniable chemistry between its members, described as a powerhouse of talents combined, according to a press release.

Renee Grant Patrick – daughter to the late George Grant of the world-famous Ink Spots – is known for her powerful, emotionally charged vocals, which deliver a sound that is somehow familiar yet refreshingly original and inviting.

Violinist Suzanne Lansford, who has been playing jazz since she was 13 and has appeared at numerous venues in both Phoenix and Chicago, incorporates a wide variety of genres into her music, ranging from Latin and Classical to Blues, Greek and Scottish flavors.

Pianist Nicole Pesce has performed for several well-known figures, including Muhammad Ali, Ricky Martin, Jimmy Carter, Shaquille O’Neal and many others. She enjoyed a residency as the house pianist at the Ritz Carlton in Phoenix for over a decade and has appeared at countless other venues across the Valley in recent years.
