Desert Hills Presbyterian Church kicks off its “Arts at the Rocks” season

Classical pianist Vitaly Serebriakov to host a workshop before the concert

Posted

On Sunday, July 25, the Desert Hills Presbyterian Church will launch its “Arts at the Rocks” season with a workshop and concert from classical pianist Vitaly Serebriakov.

Russian-born Vitaly Serebriakov is a versatile musician, teaching artist and recording engineer.

Serebriakov is also a candidate for a doctorate of musical arts at Arizona State University and has performed across the world in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New York City, among many others.

Before the concert, Serebriakov will present a small master class workshop from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the church.

Throughout the class, guests can observe as Serebriakov teaches three students about how they can improve their piano sound.

His expertise comes from his thorough understanding and mastery of what is perhaps the best technical approach in the piano world, commonly known as the Russian school of piano playing.

This workshop is free, although seating is limited so call the office to reserve a ticket.

The free concert will begin at the church at 4:00 p.m. and will last until 5:30 p.m., with Serebriakov's wife joining him for a special piano duet.

For more information about the concert or workshop, the church can be reached at 480-488-3384 or at music.arts@deserthills.org.
