Cullum Homes stacks ‘Lego-like’ home in Scottsdale neighborhood for charity

Special Olympics Arizona to benefit from the Scottsdale build

National Custom Home Builder of the Year and Scottsdale-based custom home builder Cullum Homes has been laying the foundation for their “Lego-like,” 4,415-square-foot house in The Village at Silverleaf community.

Insulated concrete forms are frequently compared to Legos, so Cullum Homes and ICF Specialists Ltd. are teaming up to build this block toy concept in support of Special Olympics Arizona. This is the first time it has been done in Scottsdale, according to a press release.

The Arizona made ICF blocks will be painted in bright colors like red, green, blue, white and yellow and resemble toy building blocks.

Because of the concrete and foam construction, ICF structures are extremely energy efficient, sound proof, reduce up to 70% air pollution from the outside, and are resistant to hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and termites.

These homes are not only beneficial to the environment and communities, but they allow for a unique opportunity to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Arizona necessities.

“Cullum Homes is proud to support Special Olympics Arizona, and we look forward to helping raise awareness and much needed funding for their programs here in Arizona,” said Rod Cullum, founder and owner of Collum Homes.

“The Silverleaf community and its’ residents are very philanthropically minded, and our unique project featuring ICF ‘building blocks’ in The Village at Silverleaf provides the perfect setting to shine a spotlight on Special Olympics and the services they provide here in Arizona.”

Mr. Cullum says the homes “Lego-like” appearance will only be temporary. The home, which has already been sold, will eventually be covered by stucco and painted this spring.

An on-site camera is set-up to capture via time lapse the entire ICF block stacking process that will take many weeks to complete.

Cullum Homes is well-known for offering premium service in all areas of its business, from site selection, integrated design and construction, to after move-in home concierge service, the press release stated. Their mission is to prioritize ease for the customer, ensuring a simple, yet custom home-buying and building experience.

Mr. Cullum’s other current projects include The Village at Seven Desert Mountain, The Village at Mountain Shadows, Cholla Heights, Paradise Reserve, and the Ironwood Golf Villas.
