Child dies after being pulled from pool in Scottsdale

A 2-year-old died in a hospital after being found in a pool Saturday afternoon in Scottsdale.

Police said they received a call shortly after noon on Saturday, Dec. 24, about a child who was found in a pool.

Officers arrived at 12:10 p.m. and personnel from the Scottsdale Fire Department arrived a short time later, police said.

Life-saving measures were given to the child, who then was taken to a hospital where the 2-year-old “tragically succumbed to injuries resulting from an unintentional drowning,” police said in a statement.

“The scene was investigated by Scottsdale detectives, and no foul play is being reported at this time.

“This extremely unfortunate tragedy is a reminder to always watch children and young persons around any type of water at all times.”
