Catholic Charities to provide online counseling sessions during pandemic

Catholic Charities Counseling Department is moving its sessions online in hopes of providing continuing assistance during the stay-at-home order.

The hope of the shift is to ensure clients can continue their counseling sessions during the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing issues for individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents, according to a press release.

“We want to be sure that the challenges in today’s environment don’t affect our clients’ ability to get the counseling they need even if they can’t come to individual or group sessions,” Anna Smith, Catholic Charities senior program manager, said in a prepared statement.

“By taking advantage of online resources, we can continue to provide them the support, advice, direction and counseling that is so important, particularly today.”

Catholic Charities’ professional team provides counseling for emotional, physical, sexual or verbal abuse; adolescent behavior issues; anger management; anxiety; communication issues; depression; divorce; family conflict; grief and loss; HIV/AIDS; parenting; self-esteem; stress management; and substance abuse.

To arrange a counseling session, residents can call 602-749-4405. Counseling session costs, including virtual sessions, are based on a sliding scale for individuals paying by credit card or are covered by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, the state’s Medicaid agency.
