Carson: Why I support the SUSD budget override

Posted

Please vote “yes" to continue the Scottsdale School District maintenance and operations budget override that is currently in place.

Because our state ranks 48th in public school funding, local support of Scottsdale educational and athletic excellence is necessary.
I graduated from Scottsdale High in 1963, but had attended Chicago public schools when I was younger. Both then, and now, there is no comparison! This is because of the vision and foresight of Scottsdale citizens.
Since I returned in 1981 to open Don and Charlie’s Restaurant, I have been most enjoyably involved in both community service and work as a school volunteer. These have been some of the most rewarding times of my life, and why I unreservedly vote yes.
A “ yes" vote carries no estimated tax increase through 2025; and supports our children, the teachers who nurture them, and others, who all improve our community, our property values and our quality of life.
A “yes" vote will allow us to continue to be nationally recognized as one of the most desirable cities in America. Please, I beg you, do not take our lifestyle for granted. Vote “yes!”
