Candeo Schools, a nationally accredited and award-winning charter school network, completed expansion and renovation work on Candeo North Scottsdale.

Despite the pandemic’s impact on construction projects throughout the Phoenix metro area, Adolfson and Peterson, a top national construction management firm and general contractor, completed the construction of two buildings, various renovations to the existing campus and upgrades to the school’s outdoor and recreation areas three months ahead of schedule.

“AP has built schools in the Phoenix area for more than thirty years," Scott Salyer, Vice President of Operations for AP, stated in the release.  "When the pandemic hit, we collaborated closely with Candeo Schools, SPS+ Architects and local subcontractors to problem solve many of the issues that other projects were experiencing.”

AP approached the expansion and renovation project in two phases. Phase I included remodeling the school’s existing administration building, painting and sealing the concrete floors, renovating the courtyard, expanding the playground, landscaping the playfield and upgrading the parking lot.

“By working together, not only did we stick to the schedule, but we delivered the school three months early,” Salyer stated. “We’re pleased with the outcome and confident the school’s additions and renovations leave it fully equipped to effectively educate and accommodate students in one of the fastest-growing suburbs of Phoenix.”

Phase II included constructing two buildings. The first 7,902 square foot building provides the school with six new classrooms, restrooms, a break room, storage closets and lockers. The second 2,470 square foot building offers three additional classrooms, a fire riser room, a mechanical room and an electrical closet.

Phase II also included the construction of a covered courtyard for students and staff.

“Our work with Adolfson & Peterson has been a smooth and impressive experience,” Stephanie Musser, founder and CEO of Candeo Schools, stated in the release. “The care and responsiveness they have shown in meeting our school’s goals has been readily apparent from the start. The result is a customized, beautiful campus tailored to the needs of our community and our education program.”

Candeo North Scottsdale educates students in grades K through 8 using a classical education approach and the nationally recognized core knowledge curriculum to broaden, enrich and enliven the academic experience.

Additionally, AP has maintained an office in Phoenix for 30 years with a long and accomplished history of providing repeat construction management services for educational institutions throughout the region.

AP’s past and current area projects include work for the Academies of Math and Science, BASIS Charter Schools throughout the Valley, Williams Field High School, and the Maricopa Institute of Technology.
