Scottsdale is ready for tomorrow, from a solid tax base to government resources to tourist venues to open spaces, on and on. We should succeed; we will succeed. The question is, what form will that success take?
As Election Day approaches, let’s take stock of the stakes. Yes, it’s about the usual issues facing local government: transportation, housing, the budget and more. But it’s also about something broader – how we envision our future, a vision not only about bricks and roads but also about the type of people we aspire to be, and how those aspirations will shape our community.
Will we be a city where citizens help decide our path forward? Will the people feel empowered by government? Will we build homes that grow welcoming neighborhoods? Will our schools equip our students with essential tools? Will we attract businesses that provide quality jobs? How will we confront the risk of depleting resources such as water?
How do we stop cost overruns and excess spending? How do we make sure government does what it says it will do, instead of pushing one agenda publicly and another quietly, out of sight? How do we make government more worthy of our trust?
Scottsdale’s future does not belong to Democrats or Republicans but to Scottsdale and its citizens. The issues are not political but practical: How can we build a better Scottsdale, prepared to take on all challenges? How do we ensure that Scottsdale is a place where its citizens are best positioned to pursue their ambitions and fulfill their dreams?
The answer begins by throwing off partisan priorities and party labels and instead coming together for the sake of our families, our community, and our future.
My campaign is about doing just that. Join me and support a better Scottsdale for all.
