A suspected DUI driver hit four Scottsdale police vehicles early Saturday morning, requiring an officer and another individual to be taken to a hospital.

Officers were responding to an incident about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, March 18, near Indian School Road and 82nd Place, when a Toyota Tacoma sideswiped a stopped police car and hit three other police vehicles before coming to a stop, authorities said.

Caylnn Simpson, 37, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving and endangerment, police said. She was booked into jail and released, pending an arraignment date.

“The incident occurred while Scottsdale officers were handling another call near 82nd Place and Indian School Road. There was a male arrestee in the back seat of the last patrol vehicle struck, and an officer standing near him, who both received minor injuries from the collision,” police said in a statement.

No one else was injured, officials said, adding all four police vehicles were damaged. Two of them needed to be towed.

The roadway was closed for about four hours, police said.
