INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A security guard and a stabbing suspect were injured Monday morning during a fight at a shopping mall in north Scottsdale, police said.
Police responded to a call to assist security about 12:40 a.m. May 29 at the Scottsdale Quarter. The fight could be seen via traffic cameras at Scottsdale Road and Butherus, and a crime center operators guided officers to the location, police said.
The first officers to arrive found “a security guard suffering from multiple stab wounds to his hip area. The security guard was physically restraining a subject on the ground who had incurred a stab wound to his back,” police said, adding the suspect was taken into custody.
Both of those involved were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a release from the Scottsdale Police Department.
The suspect in the stabbing is a man in his late 30s, who has not been formally booked yet, police said.
Another man was arrested and booked and released on one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
