Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek canceled for 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns

Posted

The Friends of Horseshoe Park Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek, which was scheduled for March 2021.

READ: Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek Rodeo pays out $33,055 in 2020

The board determined that it cannot confidently overcome the difficulties of staging a large event with the uncertainties and ever-evolving rules and guidelines associated with COVID-19.

The board felt it had an obligation to the contestants, stock contractor, sponsors, vendors and contract personnel to make a decision now rather than wait until the last minute.

Planning is already underway for Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek 2022, which will be held March 16-20, 2022.

During the coming year, Friends of Horseshoe Park and the Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek committee will be exploring alternatives to continue their presence in the community, in-person and over social media. For instance, our rodeo Rroyalty will continue to represent the town of Queen Creek at various virtual, community and state events. They also will continue to partner with Arizona Farm Bureau’s Ag In The Classroom program to bring virtual rodeo presentations to local schools.

In spite of this cancellation, Roots N’ Boots will be releasing its second issue of the AgTivity Book in March.

Friends of Horseshoe Park invites Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek supporters to send suggestions on partnering with other organizations or community involvement ideas via email to info@friendsofhorseshoepark.org.

Board President Jon Wootten said, “Our community and the Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek fans are very important to us and we appreciate your support. On behalf of Friends of Horseshoe Park and the entire Roots N’ Boots committee, I want to thank you for making Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek a world-class event.”

Editor’s note: Dru Alberti is the sponsorship chair for Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek.
