The American Leadership Academy Queen Creek High School invites the community to its Empty Bowls charity event.
Hosted by art teacher Sue Brewer, the event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at ALA-Queen Creek, Covey building, 23908 Hawes Road.
Guests can purchase handcrafted ceramic bowls made by students and community members for $15. Each bowl purchase includes a warm meal of soup and bread, symbolizing the fight against hunger.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Emma's Eats, a Mesa-based food bank committed to supporting local families in need.
"This event is about bringing the community together to make a difference while showcasing the creativity of our students," Brewer stated in a press release. "Every bowl purchased helps fight food insecurity in our area."
