The Queen Creek Library will begin a year-long program to support aspiring children’s authors and illustrators beginning on Jan. 28.

The Writer’s Studio for Children’s Authors and Illustrators is open to adults at any stage of their writing or illustration experience, according to a release.

Guest speakers will share insights about the writing process and publishing world. All of the program’s presenters are published and listed authors and illustrators or publishing professionals. Peer critique and workshop opportunities will be offered later in the year.

January’s presenter is picture book and board book author Lori Alexander, whose books include, "Backhoe Joe," "Famously Phoebe," "All in a Drop," "A Sporting Chance" and the "Future Babies" series. Ms. Alexander will address: "So You've Written a Children's Book. What's next?"

In February, Amy Fellner-Dominy, the award-winning young adult author of "Announcing Trouble", "The Fall of Grace", "Die For You" and "A Matter of Heart," as well as the "Cookiesaurus Rex" picture books presents: “The Nuts and Bolts of Writing Picture Books.”

The writer’s studio is open 6-7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Queen Creek Library, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road in Queen Creek.

This program is free to the public and registration is required. For more information, go to mcldaz.org or call Tamera Norwood at 602-652-3364.
