Do you want to learn important lifesaving skills to help in an emergency? The Queen Creek Fire and Medical department is offering free CPR and Stop the Bleed classes Saturday, Jan. 18.

The cardiopulmonary resuscitation class provides training on how to respond during cardiac arrest; immediate administration of CPR can save a life. Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call to action. The class provides training on how to quickly stop the loss of blood.

The CPR class is 9 a.m. to noon and Stop the Bleed is noon- 2 p.m. Jan. 18.

Both classes will be held at the Law Enforcement and Community Chambers Building, 20727 E. Civic Parkway. Registration is required go to QueenCreek.org/CPR to reserve your spot; space is limited.

The three-hour, hands-on CPR course is open to residents 13 and older. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably. The certification is provided through American Safety & Health Institute; the certificate is good for two years. Healthcare certifications will not be offered. There is no age restriction for Stop the Bleed training.

"Please remember if you register for a spot and do not attend, that takes away from someone else in the community who could complete these important lifesaving classes. If something comes up and you are unable to attend, let us know and we can open the spot for someone else to attend," the release states.
