Public Safety Day Saturday includes fire station tours

Queen Creek residents can celebrate the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department’s 15th anniversary at Public Safety Day this Saturday and Queen Creek’s State of the Town on Feb. 7.

Public Safety Day includes family friendly activities, demonstrations, public safety vehicles and fire station tours. The event will be held 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 20727 E. Civic Parkway. Attendees will also have a chance to observe a CPR demo, try on firefighter gear and much more, according to a release.

The State of the Town address celebrating the community’s 2022 accomplishments, including highlights of the fire and medical department, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, also at 20727 E. Civic Parkway.

“We are so proud of all the dedicated men and women who are committed to the safety of our community, and how far we have come as an agency over the last 15 years,” QCFMD Chief Vance Gray said in the release. “We appreciate the continued support from our residents and the Council.”

When QCFMD began providing services in 2008, the town’s population was just over 24,000. In its first year of operation, the department launched with about 30 employees, two stations and two fire trucks. With a current population of approximately 71,000, the department has grown to meet the needs of the community, with 81 employees, five fire stations located strategically throughout the community, and 12 vehicles. QCFMD will also be launching ambulance services later this year.
