Queen Creek celebrating Constitution Week with student art contest

Winners of last year's Constitution Week Student Art & Essay Contest were recognized by the Queen Creek Town Council. Submissions for this year's contest are due Aug. 26.

The town of Queen Creek will be honoring Constitution Week from Sept. 16-22.
As part of Constitution Week, Queen Creek students are invited to participate in the Constitution Week Student Art & Essay Contest.
Students can enter one of two categories:
“Founding Father Fun” – create an original art piece of one or more of the Founding Fathers using the art medium of your choice or write a one-page letter to one of the Founding Fathers highlighting their legacy.
“What the Constitution Means to Me” – create an original piece of art or write a one-page essay describing what the U.S. Constitution means to you.
The contest is open to K-12 youngsters who attend Queen Creek schools. The town is accepting submissions through Aug. 26. Entry forms are available at QueenCreekAZ.gov.
Entry forms and submissions should be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Thursday, at the Queen Creek Municipal Services Building, 22358 S. Ellsworth Road.
The Downtown Arts & Placemaking Advisory Sub-Committee will select the winners, who will be announced at the Sept. 18 Queen Creek Town Council meeting. The first-place winner will receive a family-four pack to the Pecan Lake Entertainment Center.
Selected entries, including the winners, will be displayed at the Founders' Day event and the QC Community Concert.
The QC Community Concert in honor of Constitution Week will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13 at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road. The free concert will include schools from throughout Queen Creek.
Celebrate Queen Creek’s 35th anniversary at Founders’ Day from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 at Founders’ Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. This free event will include activities, entertainment and the Battle of the Badge competition.
