Queen Creek celebrates 'Thank a Water Worker Day'

Posted

The Town of Queen Creek is taking part in the statewide campaign "Thank a Water Worker Day" today to celebrate the valuable services that water workers provide.

During a time when millions of Americans were under a stay-at-home order, thousands of water employees in Arizona continued to leave their homes to carry out the essential work that communities can’t live without, according to a release.

“The Town of Queen Creek has fantastic individuals ensuring we have safe and reliable water,” Mayor Gail Barney said in the release. “They continue to work tirelessly to provide one of the most essential services and I encourage the community to join us in thanking a water worker.”

This is the inaugural event in which "Thank a Water Worker Day" will celebrate essential water workers across the state, honoring the employees who provide the most valuable asset --- water.

The statewide event is intended to build public awareness around the hard work done by the employees of water and wastewater services. On this day, the town will also educate residents on the benefits of clean, reliable and affordable water services, the release states.

From June through August 2020, the Town of Queen Creek delivered 25,233,000 average gallons of water per day. Compare that to June through August 2019, when 20,886,000 average gallons of water per day were delivered.

Tune into the town’s social media sites to learn more about the individuals working for the Queen Creek Water Division and say "thank you" to your water heroes, the release states.
