Queen Creek celebrates Constitution Week

Constitution Week is coming to Queen Creek.

Constitution Week runs Sept. 16-22 and the town will be celebrating it with a student art and essay contest, a community concert and a special spotlight during Founders' Day.

Students entered one of two categories:

“Founding Father Fun” – create an original art piece of one or more of the Founding Fathers using the art medium of your choice or write a one-page letter to one of the Founding Fathers highlighting their legacy.

“What the Constitution Means to Me” – create an original piece of art or write a one-page essay describing what the U.S. Constitution means to you.

The contest is open to K-12 youngsters who attend Queen Creek schools.

The Downtown Arts & Placemaking Advisory Sub-Committee is selcting the winners, who will be announced at the Sept. 18 Queen Creek Town Council meeting.

The first-place winner will receive a family-four pack to the Pecan Lake Entertainment Center.

Selected entries, including the winners, will also be displayed at the Founders' Day event and the QC Community Concert.

The QC Community Concert will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13 at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road. The free concert will include schools from throughout Queen Creek.

Celebrate Queen Creek’s 35th anniversary at Founders’ Day from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 at Founders’ Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. This free event will include activities, entertainment and the Battle of the Badge competition.
