The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s American Indian Committee will administer two scholarships for American Indian students in 2023.

A press release stated that the American Indian Scholarship will award ten $4,000 scholarships; and the Frances Crawford Marvin American Indian Scholarship will award one $3,500 scholarship.

Detailed information and requirements for each of the scholarships is available through the NSDAR web page at www.dar.org/national-society/scholarships/american-indian.

Scholarship applications are accepted electronically via an online portal beginning Nov.  1 through Jan. 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

The NSDAR American Indian Committee, formed in 1941 is dedicated to the preservation of American Indian culture and history and support of the educational endeavors of its members, the release explained.

In addition to scholarships, the NSDAR American Indian Committee also administers grants for educational programs for healthcare and cultural and historic preservation.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War.

Today’s DAR has over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad.

DAR chapters participate in projects to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Over one million members have joined the organization since its founding in 1890.
