Martineau: Time to move forward and open Queen Creek

Posted

To Mayor Barney, Town Council and town staff:

I know the past several weeks is nothing any of us would have ever predicted.

I understand the seriousness of the matter.

When this all started, Americans and citizens of Queen Creek were more than generous with their willingness to literally put their lives on hold as we figured out what we were dealing with.

It has been over six weeks and we have the data and thankfully, we weren’t hit nearly as hard as was projected.

It is now time to move forward and open Queen Creek.

Those who need to be cautious and choose to self-quarantine have every right to. Just as those who need and want to go back to work have every right to.

The ripple effect of having so many businesses shut down is devastating on so many levels.

The government cannot pick and choose who can work and who can’t. The government is there to make sure our rights are not being abused and now the government is being the abuser.

I would like to see the Town of Queen Creek lead the way and show not only our citizens, but the rest of the state that we understand our God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

My heart hurts for those families who have lost loved ones due to the virus.

My heart also hurts for the individuals and families who are truly worried and scared for what is going to happen if they can’t work.

My heart hurts for the rise in domestic and child abuse.

My heart hurts for those who have sacrificed and worked so hard for years to start and build a business, to now watch it be destroyed.

I appreciate all the work and efforts you do to make sure that Queen Creek is the best place to live.

I call on you to stand for our individual rights and let the wonderful people of Queen Creek go back to work and carry on their duty to be productive citizens.
