A new justice of the peace will be needed for the San Tan Precinct, and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the position being vacated by Samuel T. Goodman.

The board will take applications until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, for the district that covers several communities and is bounded by Gilbert Road on the west to Meridian on the east and from Hunt Highway on the south to McKellips on the north:  Full precinct boundaries here. 

Goodman will step down  Nov. 30. 

According to law, the appointee, like Goodman, must be a Republican who lives in the San Tan Justice Precinct.

Applicants must be registered Arizona voters. The person selected will fulfill the remainder of the current term, which runs through  December 2024. 

Applicants should send letters of interest, along with a resume to the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 301 W. Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ, 85003 or email to ClerkBoard@maricopa.gov.

All documents filed will become public records, according to the county, and applicants are subject to a background check.
