Loretta “Lori” Sowinski

Loretta, 85, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022. Lori was born on August 3,1937 in Natrona Heights, PA to Josephine and Frank Drahos.
She received her RN license in 1958 from the Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing, then began her nursing career in obstetrics and retired as an oncology nurse.
She was married to Leonard Sowinski for 55 years. They retired to Surprise, AZ in 1999 where they both enjoyed tennis, golf, hiking, reading, and numerous church activities. Lori served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. She was a member of the West Valley Nurses Club. Lori loved to visit casinos and play the slot machines. She was always “talking” to the machines to pay out and frequently won. She was an artist and loved to paint landscapes.
Lori was known for her kind and compassionate spirit, her sense of humor and wit and her deep faith in our Lord. Her greatest joy was the love she had for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three daughters, Lenette Saez, Kimberly Sowinski, and Renee Pickens; six grandchildren: Jeb Saez, Nickolas Kuntz, Lorilyn Arnold, Krisdeana Sullfridge, Heather Carlson, and Michael Carlson; six great-grandchildren: Nathan Kuntz, Wyatt Saez, Jasmine Saez, Clarke Summers, Aubrey Ferris, and Islah Sullfridge; and three brothers, Frank Drahos, Edward Drahos, and Regis Drahos.
Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Sowinski; daughter, Jacqueline Wynn; grandson, Anthony Kuntz; and great-granddaughter, Natalie Kuntz. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 P.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 14818 W. Deer Valley Dr., Sun City West. Reception will immediately follow at The Chicken Ranch, 14051 W. Grand Ave., Surprise. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Parkinson research to The Michael J.
