The Queen Creek Police Department and Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department want to make sure residents' pets are safe during New Year's celebrations.

Fireworks can be terrifying, overwhelming and hazardous for both wild and domestic animals.

QCPD and QCFMD are asking residents to  take the proper steps today to ensure pets do not end up on the street or in an animal shelter this weekend.

The departments offer the following tips:
  • Leave pets inside with a radio or telvision on.
  • Make sure a pet is wearing a  collar with a current ID tag.
  • If a pet is microchipped, make sure it is updated with current contact information.
