Increased traffic expected in Queen Creek over holiday weekend

Posted

Queen Creek residents should expect heavy traffic in the southeast part of town this holiday weekend.

According to a town press release, increased traffic is expected to be especially busy on Rittenhouse and Riggs/Combs roads on Monday, July 4.

The Hometown 4th at Schnepf Farms begins at 4 p.m., July 4, at 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road. “Local traffic only” signs will be posted in neighborhoods surrounding the venue, according to the press release.

Legal fireworks are only permitted within town limits from June 24 through July 6. Legal fireworks include ground displays and sparkling devices. Any devices that rise into the air and explode/detonate or fly above the ground are illegal.

Queen Creek Police state that they will be enforcing fireworks laws in the town.

All fireworks can cause serious burns and injuries. Additionally, the area is very dry and susceptible to fire this season. For more information on firework safety including safe disposal tips, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/Fireworks.
