Gerald A. “Bud” Fletcher

Posted

Peoria, AZ - On Saturday, May 23, 2020, Gerald A. “Bud” Fletcher, loving husband and father, passed away following a heart attack. Bud was a native of Oak Park, IL, born November 4, 1934 to Jerry and Elizabeth (Grimm) Fletcher.

After graduating from Duke University in 1956, Bud served in the US Army for two years, and went on to have a long, successful career in the airline industry.

After raising their family on the East Coast, he and his wife Nancie (Burkholder) retired to Peoria, AZ in 1998.

Bud was an active member of his church and his community, volunteering his time to many events, committees, and causes.

In his spare time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing golf and was an avid jazz aficionado. He was also an accomplished singer and ukulele player and loved regaling family and friends with his favorite old-time songs. Bud was a great joke teller, and his sense of humor and infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew him.

Bud is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancie; children: Scott, David (Patty), Mark (Tina), and Stacy (Michael) Goodrich; and by his sister, Sally Nott. He was a proud grandfather of seven, and a great-grandfather of two.

His was a life well-lived and loved, and will be celebrated at a future date, when it is once again safe for family and friends to gather in remembrance.
