Posted

Safely dispose of your Christmas tree, electronics and paint at the Town of Queen Creek’s free recycling events on Saturday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 11. They are 8 a.m. -noon at the town’s field operations facility, 19715 S. 220th St. --- on 220th Street, north of Queen Creek Road.

The following items will be accepted:

  • Christmas trees: remove all decorations, tinsel and lights.
  • Electronics: computers and computer keyboards, monitors, hard drives, power cords, televisions, VCRs, etc.
  • Appliances: refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, washers and dryers.
  • Paint: latex or water-based in original containers with a lid (containers cannot exceed five gallons).
  • Document shredding: Limit five boxes per vehicle. Materials from commercial businesses will not be accepted.

The free recycling drop-off event is being offered in partnership with Right Away Disposal for residents who receive Town trash and recycling services; participants must bring a current copy of their Town of Queen Creek utility bill (hardcopy or electronic).

Christmas trees can become a safety hazard if not disposed of properly. Once the tree is dry and losing needles, it should be removed from the home. To avoid the risk of fire, do not place dry trees in the garage or leaning against the home.

Christmas trees may also be placed curbside for bulk trash collection. As a reminder, bulk pick up must be scheduled in advance. To schedule, visit QueenCreek.org/BulkTrash.

The town offers year-round recycling for used cooking oil. Cooking oil can create backups and overflows if disposed of in your sink, and throwing it away can cause contamination in addition to creating a large mess. Free cooking oil recycling is offered at Fire Station 2, 24787 S. Sossaman Road.
