Recently, more than 50 Eastmark High School students from the Queen Creek Unified School District attended an immersive experience about Mesa’s 2050 General Plan.
The field trip was held at Arizona State University’s Media and Immersive eXperience Center. Eastmark High is located in Mesa.
The immersive experience opportunity provided awareness and educated students about Mesa’s 2050 General Plan and how it will affect them as residents of the community, according to a QCUSD press release. The experience was created to make students feel as if they were in the year 2050, by using visuals and sounds to immerse them in the future.
Sessions were guided by a professional from ASU. The session included discussions about real-life redevelopment options that planners could see someday.
Students were able to provide feedback that could impact the design of these future developments, including how they would like to live, shop, work and play in the city of the future, the release stated.
