Chandler Compadres, a group of business leaders who donate their time, resources, talents and money to help kids in the East Valley, raised a gross amount of $1.2 million at the signature Rock the Cause for Kids event in early November.

The funds go to local beneficiaries including Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley, ICAN Positive Programs for Youth, AzCend, FANS Across America , Arizona Brainfood, Chandler CARE Center and The Clothes Cabin, according to a release.

The event, hosted at Rawhide Western Town and Event Center on Saturday, Nov. 9, featured a headlining performance from Rev Run, of the iconic hip hop group RUN DMC, and DJ Ruckus.

Guests participated in an iconic hero and villains costume contest plus silent and live auctions including a bid on a luxury, in-ground swimming pool from Presidential Pools. The night culminated with a raffle for a 2019 Chevy Tahoe provided by Freeway Chevrolet. Other notable sponsors for the event included Earnhardt Auto Centers, Rite-Way Thermal, Precision Installation, Bourdo Family, USA BMX, APEX Temp Air, Marx Productions Inc. and Hawkeye Electric.

“Raising this record amount makes us extremely proud because it means we can help so many kiddos and their families,” Scott Bourdo, event chair, said in the release. “Seeing the community come out every year to support our cause is inspiring and heartwarming.”

For those looking to donate to the Compadres, they can receive the Qualifying Charitable Organizations tax credit. Single individuals can donate up to $400 and get double the amount back, and married individuals can donate up to $800 for credit.
