Central Arizona College Summer Bridge 2020 goes virtual July 26-30

Posted

Central Arizona College’s annual Summer Bridge program will be conducted virtually July 26-30 for high school graduates --- class of 2018, 2019 or 2020 --- or GED completers.

This long-standing CAC tradition will offer participants a memorable week full of activities and events as they participate in online activities and workshops that will prepare them for high achievement at Central Arizona College and successful transfer to a four-year university.

Summer Bridge will provide students an opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning about scholarship opportunities, skills for success at CAC, and more. They will participate in success skills workshops and the First Year Experience, virtual tours and compete to win activities, have an opportunity to earn awards, be assigned a peer mentor and establish peer to peer connections.

“Participants selected to participate in CAC’s 2020 Virtual Summer Bridge will be part of an exciting, fun and informational program that helps them to make connections to CAC colleagues and the campus community," Gail Nettles, TRIO Student Support Services director, explained.

There is no cost to participate in the Summer Bridge program.

Upon completion of Summer Bridge, eligible students with academic promise will be admitted to the TRIO program.

Anita Z, a CAC nursing student, encourages others to participate, saying: “Summer Bridge made an outstanding difference in my education and in my personal life. When I started school I knew many students and I knew the advisors. Without them I don't think that I would be as successful as I am today.”

To complete the online Summer Bridge application, go to  centralaz.edu/summerbridge. For further information, call 520-494-5007 or email trio@centralaz.edu.

Editor's note: Angela Askey is CAC's executive director of public relations and marketing.
