Cambridge Academy in Queen Creek hosts Leap Into Literature Night

Posted

On a recent evening, parents and students from Cambridge Academy, 20635 E. Ocotillo Road in Queen Creek, attended an educational and enjoyable event called Leap Into Literature.

Leap Into Literature is one of the school’s many signature events that it hosts throughout the year, Principal Amanda Kekic said in a release.

Each classroom was transformed into a book for the event. For instance, the kindergarteners created artwork related to “The Pout Pout Fish” and the second grade classroom featured the British flag and a number of families' trees on its walls in honor of “Judy Moody and the Right Royal Tea Party,” according to the release.

Other classroom books and themes included “Friendship According to Humphrey” in the third grade classroom; “Hatchet” in the fifth grade room and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in the eighth grade classroom.

“Each class spends time reading the book, creating different projects and artwork, as well as offering a themed food and drink related to the book,” Principal Kekic said in the release, adding that the evening was very well attended.

The Cambridge Academy, Queen Creek campus opened in 2011 and is home to grades PreK-8. The charter school offers small class sizes, five “specials” a week for grades PreK-4 and a number of electives for middle schoolers, the release states.
