The Queen Creek Library welcomes author Amy Fellner-Dominy as the February guest speaker for the Writer’s Studio for Children’s Authors and Illustrators.

The Writer’s Studio is open 6-7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Queen Creek Library story time room at 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. This series is free to the public and registration is required.

Ms. Fellner-Dominy is the award-winning young adult author of Announcing Trouble, The Fall of Grace, Die For You and A Matter of Heart, as well as the Cookiesaurus Rex picture books, according to a release.

She’ll discuss “The Nuts and Bolts of Writing Picture Books,” including word count, page turns, book dummies and the querying process.

The Writer’s Studio is open to adults at any stage of writing or illustration experience. Guest speakers share insights about writing and illustrating juvenile literature and advice about the publishing world.

All of the program’s presenters are published and listed authors and illustrators or publishing professionals.

March’s presenter is Vee F. Browne Yellowhair, addressing writing biography for children, and in April Sean Buvala, owner of Small-Tooth-Dog Publishing Group talks about publishing opportunities in today’s market. Peer critique and workshop opportunities will be offered later in the year.
