Windsor: The plot thickens in Arizona

Posted

I recently submitted an opinion to the Daily Independent, pointing a finger at a couple of the ladies (Dr. Kelli Ward, AZ GOP chairwoman, and Karen Fann, Arizona Senate president) who are viciously and openly critical of anyone who dares stands in their way, relative to the legality of the 2020 election audit.

My observation was that here are two very politically ambitious women, who will pull out all the stops in order to advance their political careers, the two of them, pinning their tails to the Trump segment of the GOP.

The inspiration for my submitting an opinion to the Independent was an article in the May 24 printing wherein Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel (a Republican) had the audacity to cast aspersions on the whole auditing process. I haven’t seen any obvious attempts by either Ward or Fann to retaliate against Adel for her impudence, but I’m betting it will happen.

Now, the May 26 issue of the Independent has a front page article wherein the AZ GOP wants to strip Secretary of State Kattie Hobbs (a Democrat) of her powers to defend state election laws and that those powers should be relegated to Attorney General Mark Brnovich (a Republican). And beyond that, prevent Hobbs from being able to get legal advice, for whatever, from the Attorney General’s Office.

The likelihood of getting good advice from that source is slim anyway, in that Hobbs has filed a number of complaints against Brnovich with the State Bar Association. My point, apparently the office of Secretary of State has, over the years, always been given the powers to defend state election law, and now the AZ GOP wants to relieve her of this responsibility.

Why do you suppose Ward and Fann (and company) want this to happen? Well, we know the answer to that.

Independent readers (Republicans and Democrats) can, and should, follow this saga in the Daily Independent with an open mind. It is ongoing and very entertaining. It just may have an influence over how you vote in 2022 (and beyond).
