Valley business sells, donates maternity bags to help women

Michelle Conarty has her business focused on women and, particularly, the goal of removing one less thing for them to worry about when they are pregnant.

In 2021, Conarty, a Phoenix native, and her husband Landon launched Lily + Llama, which offers women a pre-packaged bag for when the time comes to head to the hospital.

“Pregnancy can be overwhelming with so much to prepare for,” she said in a release. “Our goal is to help expecting mamas worry about one less thing.”

Each item included is hand-picked based on research with mothers and her family’s experience, she said.

“When I was pregnant with my two babies, I wished there was an option to purchase a pre-packed hospital bag,” Conarty said.

“With my first baby, I overpacked all the wrong stuff and didn’t bring enough of what I actually needed. Although my experience made me much more prepared for my second baby, it was still exhausting trying to pull it all together.

“I know I’m not alone.”

And, she said, if something is not included in the bag, there’s a checklist to make sure nothing is left behind.

But Conarty’s business goes further. She is working to help three Valley nonprofits - Maggie’s Place, Hope Women’s Center and Pearce Family Foundation – donating monthly pre-packed hospital bags to each organization, to support pregnant women and families in need.
