Police are investigating after a man died when he was hit by a train Sunday in Phoenix.
The man was found dead Oct. 1 near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road, police said.
Detectives determined the man was walking toward the train tracks.
The train operator attempted to stop, but the pedestrian fell on the tracks and was hit and killed, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
No charges are pending for the train operator, and it is not known if the pedestrian was impaired, police said.
