The Scottsdale police sergeant who was shot Friday night in downtown Phoenix is “doing extremely well,” officials said.

The Scottsdale Police Department stated in a release the sergeant is expected to make a full recovery following the shooting on Friday, Jan. 6.

The shooting occurred about 7 p.m. as detectives were attempting to deliver a search warrant at an apartment near Second Street and Roosevelt in Phoenix.

The suspect is 37-year-old Kenneth Hearne who fled out of the apartment’s second-story balcony and is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information about Hearne should call 911 or Silent Witness at 480-Witness / 480-TESTIGO.
