As someone who also lives in a border state, disagree with the opinion expressed in a recent letter to the editor, Ice raids in Arizona deserve protests.
No one seems to consider the tragedy of human smuggling by the cartels and the $14 billion they made while the American people were stuck paying for housing and feeding migrants who illegally crossed the U.S. border.
I am a lifelong Democrat who served as an elected Democratic precinct chair in my city. I voted for Biden in 2020 and for Kamala Harris in 2024. However, their disastrous border policies changed my stance on immigration.
I believe their policies caused more and more illegal border crossings by promising a pathway to asylum even though the majority would not qualify.
Therefore, I strongly support President Trump’s stance on immigration.
