Queen Creek fire and Fulton Homes host water safety event

To celebrate the opening of the residents’ pool at the newest Fulton Homes community, Barney Farms at Queen Creek, the company is joining the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department and the YMCA to host CPR and drowning-prevention demonstration, according to a press release.

The public is invited to attend the free water safety event from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 1 at 19590 S. Barney Farms Parkway. The event is part of the “2 Seconds Too Long” campaign.

“We cannot emphasize this enough – drowning is 100% preventable,” stated Deputy Fire Chief Andy Marlar with the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department in the press release. “That is why every year we continue to emphasize the ABCDs of drowning prevention. There is just no substitute for adult supervision, barriers and classes. Enroll your children in swimming lessons, and if you're an adult we encourage you to be well-versed in CPR. All of this will help prevent drowning deaths in our communities."

Coffee and donuts will be provided at the safety event, as well as music and Diamondbacks ticket giveaways.

“This event is for the local neighborhood to usher in the upcoming pool season with a refresher on how to keep the entire family safe,” Fulton Homes CEO Doug Fulton stated in the release.

Barney Farms does not ordinarily hold public events since the amenities belong to the residents. Those amenities include an aquatic center with pools, a clubhouse and a splash pad.
