The two people who died last week in a single-vehicle collision in the 4700 block of West Cholla Street have been identified as Nolan Allen Coffland, 16, and Hunter Allan Strode, 18, police said.

At about 5:15 p.m. Feb. 6, officers responded to a paved jogging path near 47th Avenue and Cholla Street following a collision involving a “side-by-side style vehicle.” They found two people with serious injuries.

Phoenix firefighters extricated the pair from the vehicle, and they were taken to a hospital. Coffland was pronounced dead, and the man was listed in critical condition. Strode died on Feb. 11, police said.

Preliminary information suggested the vehicle was being driven by Coffland when it collided with a fence. After going through the fence line, the vehicle fell several feet down an embankment before coming to rest, according to a release.
