Phoenix set a daily rainfall record for Dec. 3  when more than three-quarters of an inch fell Saturday at Sky Harbor Airport.

National Weather Service officials said the 0.76 inches recorded was the highest amount ever on a Dec 3, topping  the 0.69 observed in 1908.

Saturday, Dec. 3, also was the wettest day of 2022,  according to the National Weather Service.

Amounts ranged from 0.25 in western parts of Phoenix to more than an inch in the eastern parts of the Valley.

As of noon Sunday, Dec. 4, rainfall data compiled and posted by Maricopa County at www.maricopa.gov showed 24-hour rainfall totals the highest in the East Valley.

Among them:

1.18 inches in parts of Gilbert.

1.06 inches in parts of Scottsdale.

1.06 inches at the Paradise Valley Country Club.

1.02 inches in sections of Mesa.

1.02 inches in areas of Tempe.

This year, 4.53 inches of rain has fallen at Sky Harbor, 2.02 inches below normal, according to the Weather Service.
